Job Summary
Congregation Beth El of Montgomery County is a conservative Jewish synagogue in the heart of Bethesda, MD committed to meeting people where they are on their Jewish journeys, learning together, praying together, and living Jewishly together. Beth El is seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy professional to join our synagogue team. This role is central to the daily flow of congregational life, ensuring our facility is secure, our digital presence is seamless, and our major holidays and programs are executed with precision. The Office Administrator will work closely with the Executive Director to maintain the highest standards for our community and help create an exceptional experience for all Beth El members.


Key Responsibilities

  1. AV & Livestream Management
    • Production: Schedule and manage all livestream recordings for services and events, including scheduling techs as needed.
    • Technical Prep: Create detailed cue sheets for the livestream team and ensure all AV equipment for programming is functional and ready.
    • Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on AV equipment to ensure long-term reliability.
    • Post-Production: Download livestream videos and perform basic editing/cutting to fit files onto flash drives for families, or format videos for congregational emails.
  2. Security & Facility Access
    • Access Control: Manage door schedules, create key fobs, and program congregant fingerprints for secure entry.
    • Personnel: Assist in maintaining the security guard schedule and scheduling crossing guards for high-traffic events.
    • Documentation: Collaborate on updates to the synagogue Security Handbook.
    • Training: Coordinate staff safety and operational training through the Great Academy platform and other staff trainings as needed.
  3. Communications & Administration
    • Quality Control: Proofread and review the synagogue calendar and all external communications for accuracy and consistency.
    • Executive Support: Provide dedicated administrative support to the Rabbi Samuel Scolnic Adult Institute, a recognized adult learning program consisting of two six-week sessions annually.
    • Logistics: Review room and event setups with the events coordinator to ensure all programmatic needs are met.
  4. Holiday & Event Logistics
    • High Holiday Coordination: Manage registrations, schedule livestream techs, and coordinate security staffing.
    • Vendor Relations: Rent pavilions for outdoor services and coordinate auxiliary space usage.
    • Logistics: Oversee the room set ups and logistics required for major Jewish holidays and programs throughout the year.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Demonstrated record of success in related positions; minimum three-five years’ experience preferred.
• A knowledge of Jewish practices, holidays, and synagogue community preferred.
• Strong technical proficiency with AV equipment and livestreaming platforms.
• Exceptional proofreading skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage complex schedules involving multiple vendors and staff members.
• Comfortable working in a communal/religious environment.
• Proactive problem-solver with an eye towards efficiency and excellent customer service.


Salary and Benefits
The salary for this role is $65,000 - $72,000 based on experience. A competitive benefits package is offered.
